Stewed Apple Recipe For Gut Health

Our Moonbox Naturopath Lucy recommends stewed apples as one of her favourite gut healing foods!

Why? Because they contain a type of fibre called pectin found in the skin which is released during the stewing process and can help heal, maintain and repair the intestinal lining of our gut. It is the insoluble fibre in apple skins that creates the bulk in our poo helping with regular bowel movements and constipation. Remember gut health and regular bowel movements are essential for healthy hormone production and elimination. An extra hormone lovin’ bonus is that the flavonoids in the apple skin has the ability to help reduce inflammation!

Stewed apples are also an excellent snack or dessert when you’re craving something sweet instead of reaching for sugary treats. We recommend pairing stewed apples with coconut yoghurt and a tablespoon of Moonbox Earth Seeds on top!
