🤯 A simple mindset shift to help you unlock more energy

6 Overlooked Causes Of Fatigue

Fatigue is a symptom - a symptom that has a root cause. The question is, what is your body trying to communicate? Is it...

1. Nutrient Deficiencies
Nutrient deficiencies cause fatigue because your body lacks the essential vitamins and minerals needed for energy production. Without key nutrients (I've listed them below) your cells can’t produce energy efficiently, leaving you feeling tired, even after rest.

2. Running on stress hormones

Running on cortisol can be a major cause of fatigue. When you're constantly stressed, your body stays in "fight or flight" mode, flooding your system with cortisol. While this might give you a temporary energy boost, over time it drains your body’s resources, leading to burnout, poor sleep & constant exhaustion.

3. Poor Gut Health

Leaky gut, constipation, IBS, or even parasites can block your body from absorbing nutrients. The result? Constant fatigue. Healing your gut is a crucial step to boosting your energy.

4. Thyroid Dysfunction

Hypothyroidism is often overlooked but is a common cause of fatigue. Many people have undiagnosed thyroid issues because only TSH is tested by your doctor. If you suspect a thyroid problem, consider getting a complete thyroid panel & working with a practitioner (like myself) to decode your results!

5. Not enough protein

Most women aren't eating enough protein to support blood sugar regulation for stable moods & energy levels. 2 eggs for breakfast is NOT enough protein my friend. You want to be getting that 30grams breaki, lunch & dinner!

6. Too much OR too little exercise

Exercise is a proven way to BOOST energy which is why daily movement is essential. However, if you're fatigued yet forcing yourself to do 4 x HIIT classes per week you'll be making things worse. Tune into the form and intensity of exercise that will support you.

The Simple Mindset Shift & Affirmation To Unlock Energy That Changed My Life

One of the biggest lessons I learned when recovering my energy from chronic fatigue is this:

When your body feels tired, it's asking for rest—not more caffeine, sugar or another workout. I know its hard when you're busy but listening to your body's needs & surrendering to more rest is the medicine.

Here's an affirmation I use:

"Rest is my power source, and I embrace it without guilt."

How can you better honor your body's need for rest and trust it to recharge naturally?

Nutrient Deficiencies Causing Fatigue

Food provides our body with the nutrients it needs to produce energy & thrive. Are you eating enough of these foods for optimal energy production?

✔️ Iron
Iron helps carry oxygen to your cells. Low levels can leave you feeling exhausted with headaches and irregular or heavy periods. 🍽️ Boost iron by eating grass-fed red meat, lentils, spinach & pair them with vitamin C-rich foods like lemon for better absorption.

✔️ Vitamin B12

Crucial for energy production, low B12 can make you feel weak, tired with brain fog & depression. 🍽️ Get it from meat, fish, eggs, or consider supplements if you’re vegetarian or vegan.

✔️ Vitamin D

Low vitamin D leads to fatigue, low moods & period pain. 🌞 Get your daily dose of vitamin D from 20 mins in the sun!

✔️ Magnesium

Magnesium is involved in all hormonal processes within the body. Low levels can leave you feeling sluggish, with PMS, cramps & irritability. 🍽️ Find it in dark leafy greens, cacao, seeds, and whole grains.

✔️ Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Vital for brain health and reducing inflammation, low omega-3s can sap your energy. 🍽️ Increase your intake with salmon, walnuts, chia seeds, or a supplement.

✔️ Potassium

Constipation, bloating, fatigue & brain fog may be signs you need more potassium. 🍽️ Bananas, sweet potatoes, and spinach can help replenish your levels.
